Fulton’s research integrates organizational theory and network analysis to examine the social, political, and economic impact of community-based organizations. To fund his research, Fulton has obtained over $5 million in grants from funders including the Lilly Endowment, AmeriCorps, Aspen Institute, and Charity Navigator.


Among Fulton’s publications is the award-winning book A Shared Future and articles in the American Sociological Review, Social Forces, and Social Problems. His research has received multiple national awards from academic associations spanning several disciplines.
